Things pilgrims need to prepare for hajj

Billions of Muslim brothers and sisters around the world have been undertaking hajj each year since 629 CE following the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Median to Makkah for anyone preparing to go, it’s an incredibly exciting time but of course a deeply spiritual, serious and important period of our lives. These are the list of some important things which you have a need to do to prepare for the hajj.

  • Prepare religious supplies
  • Seek recommendation from a pilgrim
  • Be aware of climate
  • Be physically and mentally ready

Prepare religious supplies

  • Pilgrims should remember to bring Ihram clothes including a headscarf for women, essential religious supplies, Portable Quran, a prayer mat, and a seven-bead counter.
  • You can also buy Muslim travel packs from an online store that contains all the necessary supplies to help pilgrims along their spiritual journey.

Seek recommendation from a pilgrim

Speak with a person who has already performed hajj. Prepare a list of your questions and concern and then discuss your questions with that person. They can provide you with practical tips that can’t be found in regular guidebooks. They will also be able to give you a first-person account of how to navigate and move along with the crowds.

Be Aware of climate

Pilgrims do need to take care and be mindful of the temperature. During the day, adequate sun protection is necessary to prevent heat strokes, fainting spells, and other ailments caused by the heat. Wide-brimmed sun hats and umbrellas can protect from the sun’s rays. Carry a towel to wipe off sweat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small handheld fan with yourself. It is important to keep yourself hydrated during this journey, and a refillable water bottle is a must. Pilgrims can drink the Zamzam water from the well of Zamzam in Makkah.

Be physically and mentally ready

During the hot sun, the pilgrims will have to walk miles and battle with cold desert air at night. Walking frequently in the weeks leading up to the journey can also help build endurance and stamina. Many find it useful to watch their diet, exercise, and get in shape in preparation for the pilgrimage. Pack energy bars, glucose packet drinks, and the like as these snacks will come in handy during the strenuous journey when a boost in endurance is needed.
