WOMEN ARE ALLOWED TO STAY IN HOTELS EVEN WITHOUT MAHRAM

In Saudi Arabia, women are allowed to stay in hotels and furnished apartments without mahram. The tourism committee issued a directive to hotels and furnished apartments, stating that there is not bar to providing rooms for lonely women who have legal residence permit in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, Saudi women have also been allowed to travel without a mahram under which Saudi women age 21 and over can obtain passports for themselves without a guardian. In addition the ban on travelling alone or abroad for these women has also been lifted, which has greatly facilitated those women who are lonely for some reasons or wish to go abroad for education.
